About Me: Luthfi (LUKO), The Berlin Barista

Greetings and welcome to my Blog all about coffee. I'm Luthfi, but you can call me Lu,the first letters of my name and KO, which means Kopi in Indonesian makes the name of this site LUKO.

For me, coffee was just a drink for caffeine in the morning. Later I learned more about the culture and the history of it. That's what made me interested in what I thought was a simple drink. From that moment I was eager to learn more about the world of coffee and the craftsmanship behind it .

My journey as a barista officially began a year ago when I was sitting in a coffeeshop at KAWA Kaffeemanufaktur. A small and beautiful espressobar to drink really good coffee. I was asking the barista what the difference between a cortado and Flat White is. Later on, our conversation was about specialty coffee and how money flavor notes coffee has, as an example he gave me an Espresso with fruity notes. It was my first time drinking something like this. I never thought coffee could be this complex and again my interest in the coffee scene was getting bigger.

The next step, joining the ranks of talented Barista at KAWA, a specialty coffee shop right here in Berlin .It's been an interesting experience, and every day I've spent there has been a step forward in my goal to master the craft of coffee.

My goal as a Barista, to understand and master everything, from calibrating the grinder to a perfect espresso shot, then tasting the flavor notes of the coffee to level up my sensory skills, making beautiful latte art patterns /design and making different hand brew methods.

On Lukoscofeeblog I will invite you to join me on this journey, from sharing all the knowledge and experiences I gained this year to the new ones. My Blog is for fellow coffee enthusiasts, curious souls, or just someone looking for knowledge about working as a barista. I'm here to share my passion and expertise.

If you ever come to Berlin, visit me at KAWA  and say hello. I'd love to brew you a cup of coffee and chat with you.
